Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Do I need an account to create a backup in Smart Transfer?

You only need an account for cloud backups. Local backups work without signing in. Cloud backup requires a Smart Transfer profile so your contacts and bookmarks stay linked to your device.

2. What’s the difference between Local Backup and Cloud Backup?

Local Backup saves your contacts directly on your device for quick restore.

Cloud Backup stores your data securely online, letting you recover contacts and bookmarks even if your phone is lost, damaged, or replaced.

3. How often should I back up my contacts and bookmarks?

It’s best to run a backup whenever you add new contacts or save new bookmarks. Many users prefer doing it weekly or monthly to keep everything updated

4. Can I create multiple backups for the same device?

Yes. Smart Transfer automatically organizes your backups by date and time, so you can create as many backups as you need and restore the version you prefer.

5. How secure is Smart Transfer’s cloud backup?

All cloud backups are encrypted, meaning your contacts and bookmarks stay protected and private. Only your verified Smart Transfer account can access or restore them.
